We’re growing (again!) and we are accepting applications for an experienced, passionate, residential interior designer who embodies high standards and whose style leads with sophistication, followed by the delightfully unexpected.
Michelle Dirkse Interior Design is seeking an Interior Designer with 5-10 years of experience in interior design. We work on home furnishings, remodel and new construction residential projects as well as boutique commercial projects that are tailored to the style of our client. We are based in the Central District in Seattle, Washington.
We are a supportive team that focuses on solutions and collaboration for our clients and our team. Candidates should possess a strong design sensibility, sense of urgency and prioritization, a design degree and experience leading projects from start to completion at a design firm. Candidates should have strong technical skills and be willing and able to travel locally with their own reliable vehicle. We are somewhat fast-paced for a small design firm that phases projects via a waitlist and works 40 hours per week.
Primary Job Responsibilities
Concept development based on the clients’ taste through the lens of your design sensibility and the teams. Lead the design and interiors project management of your project from start to completion with collaboration of the Creative Director, Designer Assistant and Operations Manager. Collaborate with homeowners, architects, contractors, vendors, tradespeople and the team. Draft construction drawings in AutoCad and Sketchup. Create Finishes & Fixtures Schedules Create presentations Research and source finishes, fixtures, furniture and accessories.
Work Style
Be flexible and willing to work in a collaborative environment with various design styles. Have excellent time management, be efficient with multi-tasking and able to work on multiple projects simultaneously while checking in with the Creative Director. We work in the office 1.5 - 4 days a week and work from home while regularly collaborating via Chat and Zoom when working from home. Be passionate and curious about design and art.
Technical Proficiencies
Proficient in CAD, SketchUp, Photoshop, and MS Office Suite. Experience in Studio Designer a plus.
Training and Experience
Minimum 2-year Degree in Interior Design. Minimum of five years of experience working with an architectural or interior design firm. Strong analytical, conceptual, organizational, and time management skills. Knowledge of furniture, fixtures, equipment, materials, and building finish products suitable for residential and hospitality projects. Experience with design detailing and documentation. Experience with FF&E purchasing process. Experience sourcing high end and unique art and furnishings.
