Escala 2.0 Condominium

This newly built downtown condo boasted incredible views, but vibe inside was lacking in personality. To enliven the space, our clients asked us to remodel entire their entire new condominium, based on the previous design that we had done for their former smaller condo in the same building. We started with a clean slate, recommending neutral colors for the paint, cabinets, and stone finishes to create a quiet backdrop that allowed the bold new furniture choices and the homeowners’ heirlooms to stand out. Their beautiful collection of antiques and artwork truly became the star of the show.

We found ways to customize the space—like installing a hidden office and printer cabinet to create a work/life balance that fulfilled a range of needs. We had an artist paint a flush pocket door to hide the office. When closed, the mural seems like a custom painting rather than a door to an office. The guest bathroom also needed a secret. To make it feel more like a powder room, we added a hidden shower door. From the powder room side, it’s a continuation of the beautiful wallpaper. On the other side, it’s a waterproof shower door so that the shower is still functional for the rare occasion that it needs to be used. We also broke up the open-plan layout by placing seating areas and rugs strategically throughout the condo to make it feel unified as well as intimate. In the end, our clients said that they “love our home every day,” which is always our ultimate goal.
