Northeast Seattle Residence

When it came to updating their traditional Tudor home, our clients requested that we infuse a bit of color and fun to energize the space. We were happy to oblige by choosing furniture, art, accessories, lighting, and paint colors for this playful interior design project.

In the dining room, we commissioned local artist Joey Bates to create one of his cut-paper sculptures. The resulting portrait is of our clients’ children surrounded by layered flowers. In it, Joey incorporated a few of the children’s favorite items like a little Yoda and sporting goods hidden within the bouquet. The piece hangs about a custom buffet—commissioned locally from Codor Design—which looks beautiful while also providing functional storage.

We likewise flowed the focus on handcrafted art pieces into the living room. Above the fireplace, the wire sculpture was commissioned from Chicago artist Eric Gushee. On the opposite wall, we brought in an ethereal, technicolor painting by Tracy Rocca from a gallery in New York. All of the hand-knotted rugs were likewise bespoke and special ordered from Nepal. Throughout the home, we tied the decor together with a balance of materials, color, and texture.

We love that our clients chose to bring a bit of the unexpected into their classic Tudor home and that they trusted us to create the perfect blend of art, modernity, and tradition.
